Novelon Tablet is a combination medication used for contraception (preventing pregnancy) and treating irregular periods. It works by preventing the release of an egg and stopping fertilization by sperm. It may also lower the risk of ovarian cancer.
Novelon Tablet can be taken with or without food, but it’s important to take it at the same time each day for maximum effectiveness. Follow your doctor’s instructions closely. Start taking the pill on the first day of your menstrual cycle and continue for the entire month. Once you finish one pack, start a new one right away. If you vomit within 4 hours of taking the pill, take another dose. If you miss a dose and are more than 12 hours late, use a condom for 2 days as extra protection.
Common side effects include nausea, headache, breast pain, and weight gain. If these symptoms bother you or become severe, consult your doctor. You may also experience spotting or bleeding between periods or miss a period altogether. If this happens often or lasts long, talk to your doctor. Additionally, watch for symptoms like swelling or pain in your limbs, shortness of breath, chest pain, or vision changes, as these may be signs of a blood clot and require immediate medical attention.
Before starting Novelon, inform your doctor if you smoke and are over 35, or if you have had a heart attack or cancer of the uterus, cervix, or vagina. It’s also important to discuss all other medications you’re taking, as they may interfere with the effectiveness of Novelon. Do not take this medicine if you are already pregnant or breastfeeding. Your doctor may recommend regular check-ups to monitor your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels while using this medication.
